Olive Beauty

14 Jun

This is from our photoshoot with Raquel Ames Photography on the 8th. I really pride myself on accentuating the natural beauty of our clients and Malati’s was definitely captured! Mind you she had really great skin, but she was worried about not looking like herself. While makeup should cater to the photo, it should address the natural aspects as well. We gave her flawless skin and a light dusting of Aveda’s peach lights blush. Her eyeshadow was kept subtle using Smog and Buck in her crease and Naked on her lid. We blended with a MUD Pro’s translucent powder in Desert and hit her inner corner of the eye with Sin from the Naked Palette. Her brows were left clean with some clear mascara and she was given a subtle liner effect by mixing UD’s Creep with a little saline for a slightly more dramatic affect. Her lips were done with MAC’s twig and her own favorite Chanel gloss….Gorgeous!  We flat ironed her hair and lightly pinned a half up do that was teased and sprayed with Aveda’s Control Force. Which also has a UV Protector in it for color! She loved it so much, she’s booking a Makeup Lesson Party for her and her stay at home mama gals!

Most Makeup Artists know that Bridal Makeup is the most difficult to perfect. You have to cater to the photograph and the brides natural beauty in person. Great Skin is always the key, because the better skin, the less to cover. You always want to start with a moisturized and primed face. You also want to apply your foundation when its fresh. You also need to pick your coverage based on your skin type. Powder foundation tends to work better on younger or oily skin because it mattifies and tends to settle into fine lines. Cream and Liquid work best on older or dryer skin. Remember that you should be getting most of your coverage by applying your foundation first. Any imperfections that pop through should be addressed by your concealer. Next, top off with a loose powder. This will set your makeup without giving you that cake face. ALWAYS finish off with a setting spray. Evian water is wonderful, but my favorites are from Urban Decay. They have a De-Slick setting spray for oily skin and an All-Nighter. This will help everything set and make it last up to 16 hours! Don’t forget there are a great variety of waterproof mascaras and Gel waterproof eyeliners to with stand any teary eyes during your big day. And always top your lipstick off with a dab of lipgloss. It hides rough lips and helps plump in pictures! Yes Please!
